PdC teacher named Kohl Foundation teacher fellow

In addition to studying mushroom productivity in Kirby Kohler’s science lab, his sixth grade students are learning about how everything we do to the land also impacts our water system. Here, they’re discussing a scenario where a reservoir experienced adverse effects from a nearby mine and landfill. (Photo by Correne Martin)

Alivia Jordie, Beck Oesterle and Chase Marshall showed off their bucket full of mushrooms that their entire class got to help measure.

Kirby Kohler cuts some oyster mushrooms from a very productive bucket so that sixth grader Richie Schulz can measure them.

Casiano Torres and his classmates were busy studying oyster mushrooms Monday.

Crash victim remembered for her positivity and passion

Volunteer fire, EMS and law enforcement spent hours at the scene of the crash Wednesday afternoon, tending to those involved, directing traffic, taking drone photographs, lighly reconstructing, and eventually cleaning up and assisting with towing the vehicles from the scene. It was a cold and damp day and some were on scene for over six hours. These efforts were a true example of the community support that responds to emergency situations to provide safety and security for all. The CR Quarter Horses ranch is on the left here. PdC Screen advocates for youth emotional health

The Sources of Strength wheel is meant to help youth who may wrestle with anger, anxiety and depression to determine what strengths and connections can help them through their emotions, effectively preventing suicide, bullying and substance abuse. This is considered by participating students in grades 5-12 as part of the PdC Screen mental health evaluation.
