Couleecap, city break ground on housing development


Community leaders and project partners came together Tuesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new workforce housing development project on Brunson Street.

Couleecap and the city of Prairie du Chien broke ground on a new housing development to support the local workforce. The project, located on Brunson Street, will build four, three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes to be sold to families earning up to 80 percent of the County Median Income. Each home will have a full basement and a garage.

Welcome center and chamber offices anticipating a new addition


The new addition slated for fall of 2022 or spring of 2023 will include a state-of-the-art community room and educational space for Southwest Tech, which will join the state tourism and chamber organizations as occupants of the building.

Peoples State Bank recently provided the Prairie du Chien Area Chamber of Commerce with a $10,000 donation toward the new addition to the Travel Wisconsin Welcome Center and chamber office building. Prairie du Chien Eagles Club move proposed before next spring

The Eagles Club has held numerous fundraisers as of late, including one for the Prairie du Chien Softball Association. Bar Bingo, meat raffle and a 50/50 raised 2,800 for the association.
