Lock and Dam 10 annual navigation report

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, released its 2021 navigation statistics for the Upper Mississippi River in January.

The 2021 navigation season unofficially ended Nov. 28 after the Motor Vessel Jonathon Erickson departed St. Paul, Minn. The 2021 navigation season started March 19 when the Motor Vessel R. Clayton McWhorter locked through Lock and Dam 2, near Hastings, Minn., en route to St. Paul.

Cindy Lou Meyer, 58, of Colesburg, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, surrounded by family.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 31, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 1, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Michael Ashman.

Marie Milda Hagen of Guttenberg died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital at the age of 89 with her children by her side. 

There will be a memorial service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg at a later date. 

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Frances Pritchard, 82, of Garber, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. 

Visitation was Thursday, Jan. 27, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 28, at Elkport Garber Community Center.

Interment was at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin.

Sharon J. Belden, 53, of Elkader, completed her earthly journey on Jan. 22, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, surrounded by her loving family.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 1-5 p.m., at the Garnavillo Community Center.

The Tri-State Cremation Center humbly served Sharon’s family.

Arma Jean Anna Leona (Schroeder) Newbern, 87, Sanborn, formerly of Elkader and Guttenberg was called home by her Lord, Jan. 23, 2022. 

Due to COVID-19, a service and inurnment will be scheduled at a later date.

Arrangements were handled by Leonard-Grau Funeral Homes and Cremation Service of Elkader.
