Lakeside hosting "Band Together for Good"

Three natives of northeast Iowa are joining forces to host the "Band Together for Good" fund-raiser on Saturday, Oct. 22, at Lakeside Ballroom and Sports Bar in Guttenberg. Kyle Selberg of Lakeside, Dr. Mollie Marti of Worldmaker, and Rachelle Howe of Mental Health Today are raising funds to support youth mental health and resilience programming in Allamakee County. The three natives of Waukon share a passion for supporting youth and families in their hometown.

GMHC updates masking guidelines

The Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics is updating its masking guidelines. 

"Based on decreased levels of COVID-19 transmission in our communities, GMHC will no longer require patients, guests or visitors to wear a mask while in our facilities, with the following exceptions," said a spokesperson.

•Masks are required within 10 days of a positive COVID-19 test or related exposure.

Henry C. Plagman

Henry Christopher Plagman, 71, of Guttenberg, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Guttenberg Care Center. 

Graveside services were held at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Garber on Tuesday, Oct. 4, conducted by Pastor Margaret Yackel Juleen.

Henry was born on July 21, 1951, at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque to LaVerne and Minnie (Bottleman) Plagman. Henry grew up around the Elkport area where he received his education locally. Henry spent his life working for various local farmers.

Robert “Bob” Rodenberg

Robert “Bob” Rodenberg, 66, of Garnavillo, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.

Visitation was Monday, Oct. 3, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo and before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 4, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Garnavillo.

Inurnment was at the Clayton Cemetery.

Alan E. Philbrook

Alan Edward Philbrook, 59, of Gunder, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union, after a battle with cancer.

Graveside services were Monday, Sept. 26, at Bethel Cemetery in rural Osterdock, conducted by Pastor Roland Waterman. 

Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Strawberry Point assisted the family.

Willi Chalmer Buerger, 85, of Garber, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at his home.

Visitation was Monday, Sept. 26, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood.  

Memorial services were Tuesday, Sept. 27, at St. John Congregational Church in Garber, conducted by Pastor Pete Buschmann.
