Prairie du Chien residents may watch high school sports competitions live from their household. The Prairie du Chien School District will be using the NFHS Network for all home events.

Partnered with the National Federation of State High School Associations, more than 44 high school state athletic/activities associations, and PlayOn! Sports, the NFHS Network is a joint venture created to provide fans with the ability to stream high school sports on any device, from wherever they are.

All NFHS Network events are available to watch online at www.NFHSnetwork.com and through the NFHS Network Live App for iOS and Android. Fans can watch on their computer, tablet, mobile phone through the website or mobile app, and also on television with ROKU, Amazon Fire and tvOS apps.

“In our indoor season (volleyball), we got an NFHS camera set up in our fieldhouse this past spring,” said Prairie du Chien Superintendent and Athletic Director Andy Banasik. “The competition gym had an NFHS camera installed about seven years ago. The game competition is programmed by the NFHS website. We place the dates on the NFHS website and the camera records the game through the movement of the volleyball, basketball, or wrestler in the gym.”

Banasik also explained that in the outdoor season, (football, soccer, baseball and softball), Michele O’Brien will be videotaping the games for the community. The games are live feed and may be observed live or at any time by demand.

The cost for a family yearly subscription is $69. This year, however, the Prairie du Chien Booster Club purchased the unlimited licenses for the entire community. The cost was $3,000 for the yearly commitment. A family would need an e-mail account to create a free subscription.

“This is an awesome opportunity for our fans to watch the competitions this fall,” said Banasik.

Banasik also noted that the Prairie du Chien teams will travel, and away events may be recorded by YouTube, Eye in the Sky, or NFHS. “We send weekly updates through social media (Facebook) on how you can connect to watch the Prairie du Chien High School sporting events,” said Banasik. “Hopefully, we can move forward with more fans attending our high school events, but at this time, NFHS is a great alternative to watch games from your own home. Stay safe and healthy!”
