Katzung, Reichmann at State Cross Country Meet
Two area cross country runners competed in the State Cross Country Meet held at The Ridge’s Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.
Meg Katzung, a junior from Prairie du Chien, ran in her third consecutive trip to the state meet and finished 53rd out of 151 runners in the Division 2 girls meet in a time of 20:34.2.
It was 34 degrees with winds up to 15 mph when Meg Katzung stepped up to the start line with the rest of the field of girls D2 runners. It was noon and the first race of the day. Your future is created by what you do today...not tomorrow as Meg waited for the gun to sound off for her third appearance at state. After the mile 1 marker, she was at 6:20. After the mile 2 marker, she was at 13:11. Meg then finished in 53rd place with a 20:34.2 on this cold day in Wisconsin Rapids.
In 2017, Meg ran to a 64th place with a 20:58. In 2018, Meg ran to a 35th place with a 20:17. In 2019, Meg ran to 53rd place with a 20:34.

Jacob Reichmann, a senior from Wauzeka-Steuben, took 32nd out of 149 runners in the Division 3 boys meet in a time of 17:20.5. It was Reichmann’s third straight trip to the state meet. "Though the weather was less than favorable, Jake still had a great end to his exceptional high school cross country career," said Wauzeka-Steuben Coach Ben Dums. "The entire school and community are so proud of his accomplishments over the past four seasons."
