School board moves forward on athletic trainer agreement
The Clayton Ridge Community School District board at its regular monthly meeting on Aug. 21 approved negotiation of an agreement with Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics for athletic trainer services.
The board made the decision following a presentation by Amy Sitzman and Sydney Pirillo from the hospital regarding the scope of services and costs. The board authorized Superintendent Shane Wahls to negotiate a contract with GMHC for an amount not to exceed $6,500 with preferred services to include all home varsity events, home junior varsity football games and one weekly visit.
The board also discussed the roles of non-coaches on the sidelines at football games.
Hirings and volunteers
Jarid Grinstead was hired as head wrestling coach, and Rick Jensen was hired as assistant cross country coach.
Barry Armstrong and Erik Sarazua were approved as volunteer football coaches, pending completion of requirements.
Lynette Pritchard was hired as middle school student council sponsor, and Heather Meyer as cheer coach for football.
Other business
The board approved a sharing agreement with Maquoketa Valley Schools for Title I services for the current school year.
The open enrollment of Avery Dettbarn from the Starmont school district was approved by the board.
Present at the meeting were President John Heying, members Mike Finnegan, Ellen Johnson, Kathy Ihde, Alicia Helle, Jason Reimer and Christine Aulwes; Superintendent Wahls, Board Secretary Dave Schlueter and Athletic Director Ty Troutman.
