Prairie du Chien High School to get new scoreboards, bleachers
By Ted Pennekamp
Prairie du Chien High School will soon be getting new scoreboards and bleachers for its new fieldhouse that was built as part of the $19.7 million facilities upgrade project completed in November of 2018.
High School Principal and Athletic Director Andy Banasik said all contracts have been signed for the new Daktronics video scoreboards and non-video scoreboards. The scoreboards will be installed on Aug. 1-2. The installment of the new bleachers by Northstar Equipment will be on Oct. 25-Nov. 1, with an 1,800 seating capacity for the large, new fieldhouse, which has 20 basketball hoops.
“The Daktronics video scoreboard/scoreboards will allow us to have both static signage and regularly updated messages,” said Banasik. “The updated messages could be a girls 3-pointer, sports/school trivia, upcoming events, wrestling weight class, halftime shows, and student-athlete of the month. These are just some of the possibilities with the video scoreboard.”
Banasik said, USA Wrestling and the Prairie du Chien Youth Basketball Association partnered to help purchase one of the scoreboards ($2,500 per club) while the video scoreboard and the other scoreboard were purchased through a partnership with Prairie du Chien area businesses on a five-year or three-year lease agreement.
The Anchor Sponsors ($3,500 per year for five years) for the fieldhouse project are:

“The partnerships will allow us to show the community support for all students and athletes, reach many out-of-town visitors, enhance the experience for our spectators, leave a positive impression on visitors from other communities, and enhance the overall quality of our facilities,” said Banasik. “On behalf of the Prairie du Chien Area School District, we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to present these partnership opportunities. We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our potential sponsors for helping us grow into the best athletic program possible. We are excited about serving and working with our community through athletics.”
Banasik said the school district is looking forward to helping the sponsors connect with the fans, potential customers, and to improve the overall entertainment experience for many years to come.
“It is a fascinating time for the Prairie du Chien School District and community,” said Banasik. “The cooperation and support have been unbelievable and are a testament to the Prairie du Chien community, school board, and staff on how much they support students.”
