Inez G. Hoeger, 94, of Garnavillo, Iowa, died peacefully on Sunday June 2, 2019, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home, Prairie du Chien.

Inez was born on May 13, 1925, the daughter of Otto and Clara (Hermsen) Brunsman.

She attended school in Luxemburg. Inez married Vincent Hoeger on Oct. 13, 1947, in Luxemburg.  She was a homemaker on the family farm north of Garnavillo.  Inez and Vincent raised five children. Inez was a woman of solid faith. She had devotion to the Lord in the Holy Eucharist, to the Sacraments, to Mary Mother of God, and to the Rosary.  Inez was a woman with humility. She was an exceptional wife and mother taking great care to set a good example for her family, whom she loved dearly. Inez placed much emphasis in her homemaking. She prepared her food with love, and everything that came from her kitchen was delicious. Her home was always tidy, clean and in good order. Inez practiced proper stewardship of our natural resources in her daily life. Inez had a remarkable spirit about her. In the midst of suffering, she would focus on others getting them to laugh with her quips and quick wit. Her life was one of true service. Inez did not want to trouble others, always putting their comfort before her own. This endearing trait was true throughout her life.

Those left with the peace of knowing that Inez now enjoys the beatific vision include her five children: Dennis (Martha) Hoeger, of Prairie du Chien, James Hoeger of Garnavillo, Sharon (Ken) Schoenauer of Clinton, Iowa, Randy (Anne Marie) Hoeger and Alan (Sue) Hoeger both of Prairie du Chien; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Brunsman of Dyersville, Iowa; brothers-in-law Gerald Hoeger of Garnavillo, and Clarence Meyer of Monona.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband Vincent; parents, Otto and Clara Brunsman; her sister Alma Brunsman; three brothers, Louis, Ray and Vernon Brunsman; father- and mother-in-law Edward and Veronica (Berns) Hoeger; daughter-in-law Amy Hoeger; brothers-in-law, Herman and Lambert Hoeger, and John Hageman; sisters-in-law, Martha and Loretta Hoeger and Irma Meyer and Veronica Hageman.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorials be given to the charity of your choice, or if you prefer, a random act of kindness for someone offered as a prayer in Inez’ memory would be appreciated.

Inez repeatedly expressed appreciation for the dedicated care of Al and Lucy Anderson, the staff of Lori Knapp Inc., and for the past two years the dedicated and good staff of Prairie Maison Nursing Home. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of you from Inez and her family.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in Garnavillo, Iowa, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, and one hour before service at church.
