On Thursday, April 11, 2019, loving daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend, Catherine Mary “Katie” Harris, of Prairie du Chien, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60.

Katie was born Aug. 19, 1958, and raised in Gays Mills, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Jane Harris.

Katie was special to everyone lucky enough to know her. She was a kind, generous, humble and compassionate person. She cared deeply for her family and friends. Katie would give you her last dollar and the shirt off her back; she always put others’ needs and wants before her own. Katie truly had a heart of gold. On any given day, you would find Katie riding her bike to a flea market, antique shop or rummage sale, finding some incredible deal on a vintage piece of jewelry or an item one of her family or friends had requested she find. Katie collected many things, but her vintage and costume jewelry collection brought her great joy. She also loved poetry, listening to music, the Green Bay Packers, and keeping up on her favorite TV shows. She was an animal lover; her cats were always spoiled and well-loved.

Katie was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Harris; niece and nephew, Stephanie and Larry Jacobson; great-niece, Courtney Jacobson; and her beloved cats, Delilah, Jezebel, Pandora, Ava, Fuzz, and Tony.

She is survived by her mother, Jane Harris; sisters, Christina Dolan, Cindy (Jerry) Krachey, Deb Harris, Annette (Kevin) Finney; brother, Len (Barb) Harris; great-nephew, Ryker Jacobson; many beloved nieces/nephews; friends; six squirrels; and an alley cat named Garfield.

Per Katie’s request, there will be no funeral services. Those wishing to honor Katie’s life of kindness and compassion can donate in her name to Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter in Prairie du Chien. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
