The defending SWC and Regional Champion PdC Blackhawks opened the 2018-2019 season on Thursday, Nov. 29, traveling to always tough Viroqua for a nonconference dual.
The meet started at 195#. Grant Martin made his debut in a Blackhawk singlet. Martin wrestled a tough match against a senior before being pinned in period two.
At 220#, Luke Wright would lock up a bear hug and take his opponent to his back for a quick first period fall.
Jerrod Osterkamp received a forfeit at 285#.
At 106#, Nick Mara also made his Blackhawk debut. Mara wrestled a very good returning state place winner and was pinned in the first period.
In a battle of two returning state qualifiers at 113#, Matt Rogge would wrestle a tough match, but come up short 4-1.
At 120#, Chase Fisher would secure a couple of single legs and a nice switch en route to a 7-2 decision.
Chase Watson at 126#, made quick work of his opponent with a quick passby for a takedown and a nice return into a half Nelson for a first period fall.
At 132#, Keenan Holley had a lot of first period action with a nice granby roll into a reversal. However, he would be decisioned 5-3 in a tight match.
At 138#, Reid Koenig took his opponent down and nailed him with a double arm bar for a first period fall.
At 145#, returning state runner up Traeton Saint would score back points on a couple of occasions with a chicken wing and a tilt before decking his opponent.
At 152#, Bradyn Saint put on a takedown clinic, securing five of them before pinning his opponent with a single wing arm bar.
Clayton DuCharme received a forfeit at 160#.
At 170#, Tyler Smock scored a takedown and also secured a quick first period fall.
At 182#, Zach Swiggum was pinned.
