On Nov. 17, at 3:48 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit was patrolling on Highway 35 in the township of Freeman. The deputy came upon a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 35 and Rush Creek Road.

It was determined that Reagan Bodish, 22, Garnavillo, Iowa, was operating a 2004 Ford Taurus northbound during the snow storm when she lost control and began to spin. The vehicle spun completely around, drove over the curb and came to rest facing southbound in the east shoulder of Highway 35. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was stuck in the dirt.

While speaking with Bodish, the deputy observed her to exhibit signs of drug impairment. K-9 Breck was utilized for an open free air sniff of Brodish’s vehicle and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a small vile with a crystal like substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Also found were numerous used and unused hypodermic needles, and a large amount of money. Bodish was placed through an evaluation and ultimately placed under arrest for operating with a restricted controlled substance (first offense), along with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle was towed by Scott’s Towing of Ferryville. Also assisting the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was Crossing Rivers Health Hospital.
