Amber Huser and Meg Katzung are all smiles at the State Cross Country Championship in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday. (Photos submitted)

The Prairie du Chien cross country team showed their support for Meg Katzung and Amber Huser Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.

Meg Katzung hits her stride at the state cross country championship Saturday.

Amber Huser kept good running form throughout the state cross country meet.

At the Division 2 WIAA Cross Country State Championships in Wisconsin Rapids on Oct. 27, we hear the gentle sound of the runner’s feet coming around the bend. Beach Boys fans close their eyes and start to pick up “Good Vibrations.”

Christopher Cross says we’ve got such a long way to go to make it to the finish line. So watch us as we run like the wind. As the race went on and the finish was getting near, our legs weak, no time to sleep, we ran like the wind to be free one more time.

Meg Katzung finished in 35th place this year which was 29 places ahead of last year’s state race finish.

Amber Huser came in 44th place this year, which was 15 places better than last year’s state race, as she ended her stellar cross country career.

To have a code on the course that a runner must live by and feed the dream, both girls ran with heart, patience, wisdom, and maturity to end on a proud day not only for the fans, but for themselves as individuals.

Thank you to the fans, parents and teammates who made the trip to state to watch the girls run.

A very special thank you to the family who donated the money to pay for the coach bus.
