“This was a total team effort. Our girls really dug up everything well,” said Coach Dianne Langmeier. “It really helped that our passes were to target. This made it so Verity could set up our offense and we could attack and hit their holes. I am so proud of how consistent the girls played throughout the match. Southwestern had their ups and downs, and we just played very consistently throughout all three games. We only missed one serve throughout the match. Hopefully, we can keep that up. It was nice for the girls to get this win against a very tough Southwestern team and to be able to win the regional championship on their own court. It’s a great memory, especially for our seniors who will never get to play another match on their home court.”
Top-seeded River Ridge will travel to Belmont on Oct. 25 to take on sixth-seeded Iowa Grant in the sectional semifinal.
If River Ridge wins, they will play the winner of the top-seeded Hillsboro versus third-seeded Alma-Pepin match on Saturday, Oct. 27.
