Charles Nicholas Strub, 88, of Guttenberg, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018.

Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 7, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Interment was at St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Rickardsville.

Charles was born on Jan. 30, 1930, in Lansing, the son of Cornelius and Marcella Strub. 

Charles attended the Village Creek School and later Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing where he graduated with the class of 1948. He served in the National Guard from 1949-1952 and received an honorable discharge.

On Aug. 30, 1950, Charles was united in marriage with Nancy Jean Potter at St. Mary’s Church in Dubuque. Nancy passed away and Charles later married Mary Arlene Wubben on Nov. 24, 1972, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Hazel Green Wis. Mary passed away on Nov. 6, 1997. For many years, Charles worked at John Deere in Dubuque until his retirement. Charles was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. Charles enjoyed gardening golfing, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Charles is survived by his children, Gary (Heidi) Strub, Terry (Pam) Strub, Randy (Deb) Strub, Greg Strub, Mary Beth (Beba) Strub, Steve (Sandy) Strub, Peggy (Genevieve) and Nicholas Strub; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dan Strub, Marcela Hale, Margaret (Tom) Dolan, Ann Thimmesch, Bernice (Linus) Ott; siblings in-laws, Willie (Betsy) Wubben, Melvin Wubben, Marie Geiger, Phyllis Wubben, Darlene Wubben; special friends, Beverly King and Harlen Reyerson and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Nancy and Mary; two sons, Larry and Andy Strub; brother, Earl Strub; siblings in-laws, Leo Thimmesch, John Hale, Lenore Strub, Lorrain (Rainy) Wubben, LaVern Wubben, LeRoy Wubben, Nancy Sullivan and Alice Fitzgerald.
