Seneca/Wauzeka-Steuben routed visiting Wonewoc-Center/Weston 48-6 to win their homecoming game Friday night in Seneca.

SWS got on the board early on a 45-yard TD run by Hunter Aspenson (PAT good) to take a 7-0 lead.

Austin Hagensick scored on a 5-yard run and the extra point was good as the Blue-Golds went up 14-0 in the first quarter.

Carter Lomas caught a 20-yard TD from Jared Payne and the extra point was good as SWS built a 21-0 lead after one period.

Hagensick scored on a 5-yard run in the second quater to put the Blue-Golds up 27-0.

Hunter Aspenson returned a punt 76 yards for another TD as SWS assumed a 33-0 advantage.

WCW scored on a 66-yard pass to pull within 33-6.

Lomas raced in on an 80-yard pass from Payne and the 2-point conversion was good as SWS boosted their lead to 41-6.

Hagensick had a 3-yard TD run (PAT good) to give SWS a 48-6 lead at halftime. Neither team scored in the second half as SWS gained the victory.

“Special teams did a great job of giving us a spark very early in the game. Hunter Aspenson had a great game returning punts. Nick Benish did an outstanding job of being a ball hawk and stripping the ball as well as recovering a fumble in the first half,” said SWS Coach Justin Goodrich. “Our offensive and defensive lines were both very dominant for the entire game. I was very pleased with our younger players stepping up in the second half and holding WCW out of the end zone. This group of young men gels very well and they are fun to watch play as a team!”

Aspenson rushed once for 45 yards and a touchdown. Payne had 5 carries for 33 yards. Payne was 4 for 4 passing for 113 yards and 2 TDs. Bradley Karnopp was 2 for 4 passing for 16 yards. Lomas caught 3 passes for 106 yards and 2 TDs. Ashton Swanson caught 1 pass for 16 yards.
