LaVonne E. 'Bonnie' Hines

LaVonne E. “Bonnie” Hines, 82, of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. 

She was born Aug. 23, 1936, in McGregor, Iowa, the daughter of Austin and Helen (Hoffman) Ames. She married Marvin Hines on May 16, 1953, in Elkader, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1997. She is survived by her son Allen (Pam) Hines, of Watkins, Iowa; her daughter Vickie (John) Howe, of Prairie du Chien; her brother, David Ames, of Milton; her sisters, Audrey Bennett, of Independence, Iowa, Darlene Moon, of Monona, Iowa, Marilyn Havlik, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Meredith Gentes, of Prairie du Chien; brother-in-law, Henry Benhart, of Oelwein, Iowa; sister-in-law Delores Ames, of Janesville; grandchildren, Michele, Chris and Brian along with great-grandchildren, Chase, Colton and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Curtis Ames and sister Diane Benhart. 

A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at Huckleberry’s in Prairie du Chien, with a reception to follow. A private family interment will be later in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, Iowa.
