Anna M. Steffensmeier, 87, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, at the Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. 

She was born May 27, 1931, in Patch Grove, the daughter of Alonzo and Ivanelle (Taylor) Wilkinson. She married Cletus Steffensmeier on Aug. 27, 1960, at St. John’s Church in Patch Grove. Together, they farmed most of their lives in the Patch Grove area before retiring in Prairie du Chien in 1988. Cletus preceded her in death on March 19, 2011. 

Anna is survived by her son Mark (Stephanie) of Bloomington; her daughters, Mary Steffensmeier of Waterloo, Iowa, and Diann (Bruce) Reilly, of DeForest; her brother, Lyle Wilkinson, of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Daniel, Ashley, Becky, Kyle and Cassidy; along with her great-grandchildren, Logan, Reece and Camden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters-in-law Helen Wilkinson and Marcella Eike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, where there will be an Eagles Club tribute at 7 p.m., and a wake scripture at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of departure for church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Holy Family Parish. Online condolences may be left at www.garrityfuneralhome.com.
