David James Armoto, 76, of Volga, passed away Monday, June 4, at his home in Volga, Iowa. 

He was born March 20, 1942, in Hanover, Ill., to James D. and Iva Mae (Shaw) Armoto. He was baptized in Mt. Sterling. David was united in marriage to Carol Hein on June 17, 1992, in Prairie du Chien. He was a welder and foreman for CBI for approximately 40 years. His job took him all over the world. 

David was a handyman and Jack of all trades! He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, served on the Volga City Council, was the Volga Easter Bunny, did many remodeling projects for the church and was Chairman of Angel Food Ministry—a program to get food to people in need. He was always conscious of the needs of his church and its members. David was loved by so many.

Survivors include his wife Carol, of Volga, Iowa; mother of his children, June Esser, of LaValle; children, Angela (Dean) Medler, of Rogersville, Tenn., Audrey Fuller, of Reedsburg, Michelle (Mike) Hogenson, of Ferryville, and Yvonne (Chris) Sletten, of Sun Prairie; stepchildren, Lisa (Skip) Hein, of Eastman, Theresa Brandenburg, of Owatonna, Minn., Jerry Hein, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Roger (Danielle) Hein, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Chad (Audre) Hein, of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Barbara (Jeff) Stendel, of Owatonna, Minn., Tony (Brenda) Hein, of Bloomer, Robert (Andrea) Hein, of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; 42 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Rolff, of West Salem, and Judy Paggi, of West Salem; brothers, James Armoto, of Eau Claire, and John (Carolyn) Armoto, of Indianapolis, Ind.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barb Kaufman; brother, Nickolas D. Armoto; brothers-in-law, Darold (Fred) Rolff and Ray Paggi; sister-in-law, Sandra Armoto; step-children’s father, Richard Hein; step-daughter, Wendy Hess; and step-grandson, Ethan Brandenburg.

A memorial services was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 21, at the United Methodist Church in Volga, Iowa, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating Inurnment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Volga, Iowa. Honorary bearers were Jerry Hein, Roger Hein, Chad Hein, Tony Hein, Robert Hein, Jay Taylor, Wayne Coonfare, Mike Hogenson, Casey Hogenson, Wyatt Hill, Greg Lawton, Dean Medler, Chris Sletten, George Duff, Neil Vanhorn, Jeff Stendel and Kenneth Schuller.
