David Armoto
David James Armoto, 76, of Volga, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at his home in Volga. He was born March 20, 1942, in Hanover, IL to James D. and Iva Mae (Shaw) Armoto. He was baptized in Mt. Sterling, WI.
David was united in marriage to Carol Hein on June 17, 1992, in Prairie du Chien, WI. He was a welder and foreman for CBI for approximately 40 years. His job took him all over the world. David was a handyman and Jack of all trades! He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, served on the Volga City Council, was the Volga Easter Bunny, did many remodeling projects for the church and was Chairman of Angel Food Ministry – a program to get food to people in need. He was always conscious of the needs of his church and its members. David was loved by so many.
Survivors include his wife Carol of Volga; mother of his children, June Esser of LaValle, WI; children, Angela (Dean) Medler of Rogersville, TN, Audrey Fuller of Reedsburg, WI, Michelle (Mike) Hogenson of Ferryville, WI, and Yvonne (Chris) Sletten of Sun Prairie, WI; stepchildren, Lisa (Skip) Hein of Eastman, WI, Theresa Brandenburg of Owatonna, MN, Jerry Hein of Blooming Prairie, MN, Roger (Danielle) Hein of Blooming Prairie, MN, Chad (Audre) Hein of Blooming Prairie, MN, Barbara (Jeff) Stendel of Owatonna, MN, Tony (Brenda) Hein of Bloomer, WI, Robert (Andrea) Hein of Blooming Prairie, MN; 42 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Rolff of West Salem, WI, Judy Paggi of West Salem, WI; brothers, James Armoto of Eau Claire, WI and John (Carolyn) Armoto of Indianapolis, IN.
David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barb Kaufman; brother, Nickolas D. Armoto; brothers-in-law, Darold (Fred) Rolff; Ray Paggi; sister-in-law, Sandra Armoto; step-children’s father, Richard Hein; step-daughter, Wendy Hess; and step-grandson, Ethan Brandenburg.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home in Elkader and one hour before services at the church on Thursday. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Volga with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga
