Blackhawks advance to sectional

The host Prairie du Chien Blackhawks defeated Fennimore 9-1 for the WIAA Division 3 Regional Championship on Wednesday afternoon.

Tyler Smock led the Blackhawks with 3 hits and 4 RBI. Smock drove in runs on a single in the second, a walk in the fifth and a single in the sixth.

Prairie scored 4 runs in the fifth inning. Clayton DuCharme, Smock, Gavin Gillitzer, and Dylan Coleman each drove in runs in the inning.

Gavin Gillitzer earned the win for Prairie du Chien. He surrendered 1 run on 3 hits in a complete game victory.

Prairie collected 11 hits. Smock and DuCharme each had 3 hits to lead the Blackhawks.

Prairie is now 17-1-1 on the season and will play next for the sectional championship in La Crosse on Tuesday, June 5.
