High speed chase leads to drug bust
On May 27, at 8:30 p.m., the Prairie du Chien Police Department was notified by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department about a pursuit in progress involving a motorcycle traveling east on Highway 18 at a high rate of speed.
The motorcycle crossed into Crawford County. Prairie du Chien police officers attempted to conduct a maneuver to direct the motorcycle onto the Highway 18 Bypass and away from the city.
The motorcycle drove around the squad cars in excess of 100 mph and continued east on Iowa Street. Officers continued pursuit. After several minutes, the driver crashed in a drainage ditch on the east side of town.
During the pursuit, the driver, Timothy Timler, 28, Prairie du Chien, was seen wearing a backpack. Timler threw the backpack off during the pursuit and numerous drug paraphernalia items, along with marijuana were later located inside the backpack.
Timler was arrested and lodged in the Crawford County Jail for felony fleeing a police officer, operating a motorcycle with a restricted controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Timler sustained minor injuries from the pursuit and is also facing numerous criminal charges in Clayton County.
