PdC varsity soccer beats River Valley, varsity reserve ties

On Thursday afternoon the Lady Hawks took on River Valley at home for Parents’ Night for Prairie du Chien soccer. There was a varsity reserve and a varsity game and both teams did a phenomenal job.

“A special thank you to all the parents who were able to make it tonight as I know your daughters greatly appreciated it,” said Coach Amber Hynnek.

The Prairie varsity defeated River Valley 3-0.

Prairie did an amazing job controlling the ball. They took their time to control it and passed with a purpose. Gabby Toberman did a great job and played with poise and control in the midfield. She started many plays with beautifully placed balls slotted to the corner and had a couple of runs downline herself to cross the ball.

Brytta Sagedahl also had a solid game at the midfield and forward, pushing forward with confidence. The first goal was scored four minutes in by Kenzie Pettit off a nicely spotted ball from Caitlin Nolan. Pettit did a great job pushing up to pressure the River Valley defense for a turnover and crashing the net with speed. Pettit assisted both of the other goals of the game as well and led the team with 4 shots.

Jade Afroukh also played a great game at forward and also tallied four shots and scored the second goal of the game 40 minutes in. Kierstyn Rogers also had some great runs downline and also tallied two shots on goal. The final goal of the game was scored by Sagedahl from Pettit a nice shot to the corner with six minutes remaining.

Kylee Weber did a great job at outside mid and tallied two shots on goal. Reagan McCormick also had a great game on the outside with lots of hustle. Caitlin Nolan had a nice game at sweeper and had quite a few nicely played passes to the forwards to start the attack. Riley Hubanks, Gracie Colson and Madalyn Roche all also had nice games at defense and kept the ball fairly clear from the goal. All did a nice job defending on goalside and recovering back to support one another if they did get beat.

Tajah Eades had a more laid back game, a much needed break after a tough Platteville match earlier this week, and tallied four saves. Eades did a nice job stepping up to slide and grab the ball if River Valley slotted it into the box to deny them any opportunities for a shot on goal.

Great game tonight ladies! Let’s keep that momentum and level of play going!

The Prairie varsity reserve played River Valley to a 0-0 tie.

The Lady Hawks had a nice game against River Valley following Parents’ Night and the varsity game. The girls did a nice job working together and controlling the ball.

Grace Pedretti led the team with 2 shots on goal. Ally Schroeder also had a great game and had some beautiful strong shots from the outside. Rebekah Champion did a great job on the attack and had a couple of opportunities as she crashed the ball and attacked with speed.

Meg Katzung did a nice job in the midfield and played with speed and confidence to work with her teammates to drive forward. Ken Kirschbaum and Jenna Holler did a great job stopping any River Valley attack down the middle. Kierstyn Rogers stepped up to play goalie for the varsity reserve game and tallied five saves.

“The Lady Hawks did a nice job controlling the ball and with a little more time, I feel they would have capitalized to clinch the game, but the shortened halves halted them short with a tie,” said Hynnek.
