'Robin Hood,' an action-packed, comedic adventure

The Baroness’ persistent squeal and over-the-top character, played by Kama Tesar (center), was well matched by her fellow performers in Prairie du Chien High School’s “Robin Hood.” They include (from left) Sherwood foresters Jillian Kruempel and Erin Amdahl, as well as members of the “merry men,” Tristan Nesvold as Allan-a-Dale, Hailey Seitz as Meg, Ian Halderson as Will Scarlett and Sophie Miller as Beatrice.
The wise-cracking Marian, played by Katy Welsch (left), tantalizes the outlaws that Queen Eleanor, aka Ellie Mara, plans to “off with their heads.”
Derek Spiller was the perfect lead character in Robin Hood (center), surrounded here by his “merry men” (from left): Hailey Seitz as Meg, Dylan Skime as Little John, Ian Halderson as Will Scarlett and Carter Wittrig as Much the Miller. True to legend, the heart of Prairie du Chien’s version of “Robin Hood” is its story of taking from the rich to give to the poor.
Friar Tuck, played by middle schooler David Riniker, sits beneath a tree talking to himself and eating voraciously, before realizing he’s being spied upon by Robin Hood.
Distraught by the sheriff’s scheme to wed her, young Ellen, depicted by Alaina Lenz, converses with the inn keeper, played by middle school student Robert Groom.
“Robin Hood,” a humorous and action-packed play by Larry Blamire, was performed over the weekend in the Prairie du Chien High School Little Theater. The play tells the story of the grand adventure of Robin Hood, played by Derek Spiller (left) and his band of outlaws as they steal from the rich and give to the poor, while the audience simultaneously watches a romance bloom between the witty Robin and the skeptical and skilled Maid Marian, the lady-in-waiting to Queen Eleanor.
