Joe F. Ludvik, 82, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, April 2, at the Crossing Rivers Health Care in Prairie du Chien.

 

He was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Prairie du Chien, the son of Joseph and Mildred (Eulgem) Ludvik Sr. He married Susan O’Neal on Jan. 29, 1972, in Monona, Iowa. Joe worked at Service Soft water softening and later owned and operated the Roller Rink in Prairie du Chien. He also worked at the Prairie Cabinet Shop and later for Eastman Lumber. 

 

Joe had a passion for restoring antique cars and trucks and for many years, did body work and sold used cars and trucks. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue Ludvik, of Prairie du Chien; step-daughter Semone (Marse) Villa, of Guttenberg, Iowa; brothers Richard and Randy (Amy) Ludvik, both of Prairie du Chien; sisters Marie Cox, of Lancaster, and Bonnie (Butch) Schwarz, of Boydtown; grandchildren Lindsey Davis, Kyle Wilker, Levi Wilker, Cody Simmons and Macy Jones; great grandchildren, Storm and Asher; along with his close cousin Dave (Deb) Walz, of Prairie du Chien. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Anna Cooper; his brother Carl; and two infant sisters.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Friday, April 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
