Werner Herman Siegenthaler
Werner Herman Siegenthaler passed away peacefully on Friday, March 30, at Boscobel Care and Rehab. He struggled with Parkinsons, but never complained. He continued to live his life the best he could with the support of his loving wife and family along with the caring staff at Boscobel Care and Rehab and St. Croix Hospice.
He was born in Monroe, Jan. 20, 1934, to Ernst and Clara Siegenthaler. On Oct. 14, 1961, he married the love of his life, Margaret Howell, in which they were blessed with four children (Kurt, Rick, Lisa and Connie). They demonstrated the true meaning of love for 55 years supporting each other and their family through happy and difficult times.
Werner had a strong work ethic. He spent his life working at the family cheese factory in Wauzeka in his early years. He operated his own cheese factory before being drafted into the Army. Afterwards, he spent the rest of his working life hauling milk for farmers in which he thoroughly enjoyed. He always commented he had the best job. At age 70, he retired and spent time traveling with his loving wife to England, Georgia, Cancun, South Dakota and Florida.
Werner had a terrific sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. His laugh and smile were contagious to all around him. He would always laugh at his own jokes which would make everyone else laugh as well. Werner loved to fish, especially catfish on the Wisconsin. Great memories were made later in life spending an entire summer fishing with his son, Rick, who had just moved back home from England.
Werner was an avid card player, especially poker, and enjoyed playing with friends and family, especially his brothers. He enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Poppy), great grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his children Kurt (Christine), Rick (Denise), Lisa (Doug) and Connie. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Nina, Nate (Krista), Megan and Grace along with two great grandsons (Neo and Keegan). He is also survived by his brothers Kenny (Marion) and Fred (Phyllis) Siegenthaler and other family and friends especially a special nephew, Kent, who would always take the time to play poker with his Uncle Werner.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Marge; a brother Erik Siegenthaler (Marie); a sister Francis Lund; brother-in-law Tim Lund; a special niece (Jenny Jo); brother-in-law Lee Howell; and brother-in-law Ray Venden.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, April 4, at Beeman-Patchak Funeral Home, 104 Fremont St.in Boscobel. Friends may call one hour before service time at the funeral home. A luncheon will be provided at the United Methodist Hall in Boscobel after burial at the Boscobel Cemetery.
