Rosemary Theresa Matt, 86, of Garnavillo, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg where the family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Monday, March 26. Scripture service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, conducted by Rev. Marvin Bries.

Rosemary was born one of five daughters on March 18, 1931, in Guttenberg, the daughter of Raymond and Amelia (Burr) Frommelt.

Rosemary was christened at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guttenberg and later graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948. On Dec. 27, 1952, Rosemary was united in marriage with Francis Henry Matt at St. Mary’s Church in Guttenberg and the couple was later blessed with three sons, Jeff, Jay and Joel. Through the Air Force, the Matt family lived in Denver, Florida and Alaska before returning to Iowa to farm. Rosemary will always be remembered for her love of J-Wood Campground, never ending rummage sales, playing slot machines, Avon, and being a loyal Cubs fan. 

Rosemary will be forever loved and cherished by her two sons, Jeff (Lois) Matt of Shell Rock and Joel (Katie) Matt of Oak Creek Wis; two granddaughters, Liberty (Scott) Munson of Redmond, Wash. and Tomorra (Jeff) Wessel of Central City; two great-grandchildren, Lafe and Jeralyn Wessel of Central City; sister, Esther Goedken and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Pamela and Mathew in infancy and son, Jay in 1980; husband Francis in 2005; great-granddaughter, Samantha Munson; siblings, James John and Gerald Joseph in infancy, Amy Matt, Jeanette Schreiber and Ruth Von Fumetti.
