Ken White, 74, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., died Friday, March 16, at his home.

Ken was born on Nov. 19, 1943 in Prairie du Chien the son of Don and Lucile (Haville) White. He graduated from Prairie High school and also from Madison Business College. He lived in Prairie du Chien until the early 1960s, moving to Madison, Wis., for school.

In 1965, he married Louise Combs. In 1975, Ken, Louise and their two children moved back to Prairie du Chien, returning to the family farm so Jeff and Jennifer could grow up in a small town. Ken proudly worked at the Villa Louis for 25 years, taking great pride in keeping the Villa beautiful. He also loved working on the Villa Louis Carriage Classic. In retirement he created his dream woodworking shop and spent most of his days crafting beautiful items which he enjoyed giving to family and friends. Wherever he went, he was sure to give children he encountered a handmade top.

Ken is survived by his wife, Louise; one son Jeff (Gretchen) White; and one daughter, Jennifer White. Gretchen was his special traveling buddy. He is also survived by three deeply cherished grandchildren, Kate, Rockford and Suzy Q., whom he named; three sisters, Kathy (Pat) McGrath, Jeannie (Jack) Osteraas and Donna (Bob) Kenas; one brother, Dick (Barbara); an adopted sister, Uschi (Don) Hoegsberg; sister-in-law, Carolyn; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ron.

His life will be celebrated at the Town Hall of Prairie du Chien, 33890 State Hwy 35 on Saturday, March 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. Friends and family are all welcome. We only ask for your presence and perhaps a humorous story about Ken. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with the arrangements.
