Michael Reed, 69, of Prairie du Chien, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Crossing Rivers Health, Prairie du Chien. 

 

Michael was born on Oct. 30, 1948, in Prairie du Chien to Fred and Betty Reed of Lynxville. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1966, and married Patricia Ann Sutton on April 16, 1971. Michael worked for Spahn and Rose Lumber Company, formerly known as Hometown Lumber Company, for over twenty years. He worked ten more years at Cabela’s before his retirement in 2016. 

 

Michael was a dedicated deacon and Sunday School teacher at Bible Baptist Church, instructing the adult Sunday School class for over 20 years. He was a skilled carpenter, and could often be found working on home improvement projects in his spare time. Michael was a passionate and stirring singer, often moving himself and the church congregation to tears with his touching special music. He was passionate about the river, his Johnson outboard motors, and his Bushcraft hobby. Above all else, he loved his family, his church, his Bible, and his Saviour. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

 

Michael is survived by his wife Patricia, of Prairie du Chien; two sons Benjamin, of Prairie du Chien, and Adam, of Whitewater; a daughter Heather (Matt) Gansemer, of Mendoza, Argentina; four grandchildren: Cort Reed, and Clara, Ethan and Brenna Gansemer; a sister Maureen (Steve) Ware, of Appleton; brother William (Karen) Reed, of Lansing, Iowa; and a brother Jerry (Stacey) Reed, of Prairie du Chien. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas, of Prairie du Chien.

 

Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Funeral Services will be at conducted by Pastor Andy Doll at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Bible Baptist Church, Prairie du Chien. Burial will follow at Dickson Cemetery,  in Lynxville. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Prairie du Chien, is helping the family with the arrangments.
