Kathy C. (Kratochvill) Schilter-Skaar, 63, Appleton, passed away on Nov. 23, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. 

 

She was born July 11, 1954, in Prairie du Chien, to Frank Kratochvill Sr. and Phyllis (Cullen) Enke. She moved to the Fox Cities to raise her family and started her business, New Beginnings Salon. Kathy loved to crotchet and knit many things for her friends and family. She also was fond of Native American teaching and was an active member of the recovering community.

 

She will be greatly missed by her mother, Phyllis (Chuck) Enke; a son, Donny (Jessica) Schilter; five grandchildren: Hollie, Ashton, Brayden, Faith and Hope; siblings: Frank Jr., Kay Russell, Connie (Leland) Hutchison and Patti (Steve) Schauf, and all of their families; a special dog, Nakai; and many numerous special friends. 

 

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Frank Sr.; a son, Jeremy Schilter; and sister-in-law, Roberta Kratochvill.

 

A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place on Monday, Dec., 4, at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to help with expenses.
