On Oct. 31, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Mazda Mz6 on Highway 82 in Freeman Township. The deputy identified the driver as Sheila Ross, 43, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Ross exhibited numerous signs of nervousness and deceit. After a driver’s license check, Ross was found to have a valid warrant for larceny out of the state of Iowa.

The deputy investigated further and discovered Ross to be in possession of numerous false identification cards, all in different names and states, but with Ross’ photo on them. The false IDs had corresponding blank checks in the same name. Ross had numerous other items relating to identification theft, fraud and larceny. It appeared Ross was committing these crimes in numerous cities and states.

Ross was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail for her warrants. The investigation into the fraud continues.
