Martin Lee Bunting, 60, of Gardner, Kan., formerly of Edgewood, passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Mayvil Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids.

Memorial services were Saturday, Oct. 14, at Edgewood Bible Church in Edgewood, conducted by Rev. Jim Rinehart. Visitation was before services at the church.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Union Cemetery, Littleport.

Martin was born in Manchester on May 29, 1957, to Douglas “Wayne” and Velma (Bush) Bunting. 

Martin attended Central Elementary School in Elkader and graduated from Central High School in Elkader. He then began his long career as a truck driver. He worked for several companies throughout the years and ended his career working for Midwest Injection in Cascade. 

Martin was married to Bonnie Sue Bailey in March 1978. Two daughters were born to this union, Addie in 1978 and Amber in 1980. The couple later divorced. Martin was diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer) in December of 2016 and fought a heroic battle. 

He is survived by his daughters, Addie Craver of Gardner, Kan., Amber Bailey-Njeru (Grace Bailey-Njeru) of Marion; four grandchildren, Madesta, Nevaeh, Madisyn, and Chase; his mother, Velma Bunting of Edgewood; five siblings, Linda (Floyd) Forsyth of Manchester, Bill (Mary) Bunting of Edgewood, Jim (Lori) Bunting of Edgewood, Tom (Lori) Bunting of Edgewood, and Susan (Mike) Schams of Holmen, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

Martin was preceded in death by his father.
