Robert Monroe “Skip” Raisbeck, 84, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, Sept. 8, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. 

 

He was born Jan. 12, 1933, the son of Earl and Grace (Tubbs) Raisbeck on the Raisbeck family farm in Beetown Township. Skip attended Dodge Country School and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1950. He was united into marriage to Donna M. Junk on April 6, 1953, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. Together they raised their family, and operated the Raisbeck family farm. 

 

Over the course of 20 years, Skip was a seed dealer for Pride Seed Company and territory manager for Northrup-King Seed Company. He worked for Bloomington Farmer’s Co-op for 14 years, and was employed with Bloomington Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company for eight years. Skip served on the Beetown Township Board for 24 years, retiring in 2015. He was also secretary-treasurer for Dodge Cemetery.  Skip was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, an officer for the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. 

 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the cabin. Skip loved the many years of family vacations in northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed a variety of activities with family and friends and was also an avid Green Bay Packer and University of Wisconsin Badger fan. Skip’s loving wife Donna, and their family meant the world to him.

 

Surviving is his wife, Donna; their children: Steve, Pat (Barb), Chuck (Julie), Ron (Kim), Jim, Dan (Lori) Raisbeck, Connie (Mike) Redman, Kerry (Carl) Blum; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many members of the Raisbeck and Junk families.

 

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a sister, Grenelda (Richard) Metcalf, and two brothers Francis (Erlyn) and John (Angela) Raisbeck.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial will be in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 3 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bloomington, where a 2:45 p.m. parish prayer service will be prayed. Friends may also call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers a Robert Monroe “Skip” Raisbeck Memorial Fund has been established.
