Roger Lee Glawe, 64, of Volga, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at home, following a long illness. He was born January 9, 1953, in McGregor, to Lloyd and Ivanelle (Schuety) Glawe. He was baptized at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, and confirmed at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader. Roger graduated from Central High School in 1971.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis Peterson on December 5, 1981, at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder.   He lived and farmed on his family farm near St. Olaf. Roger worked at Korte Implement, Elkader Co-op and Leete Trucking until he started working at Corby’s Tire and Muffler in Elkader, where he worked for almost 30 years.

Roger was a longtime council member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga. He enjoyed riding horses, camping, going out for supper, Edgewood Rodeo and especially spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Volga; sons Lee of Volga and Jason (Jennifer) Glawe of Bloomington, MN; granddaughter, Anya Lee Glawe; brother Dean (Sheila) Glawe of McGregor; nieces, Shelly, Liz, Sophia, Brooke, Laura, Lisa, Heather, Samantha, Abbie, Kimberly; nephews, Mike, Kevin, Dustin, Dannon, Jeremy, Karson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale (Deb) Mohs of rural St. Olaf, Kevin (Wendy) Peterson of Gunder; and his special loyal dogs, Salli and Dottie, who were always  beside him on his journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Randy “Chew” Glawe and three sisters, Cheryl Howard, Mary Tielbar and JoAnn Glawe.

Visitation was held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Volga. There was a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiated. A private family inurnment at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf.
