On the morning of June 18, an officer with the Boscobel Police Department responded to a disturbance in the city of Boscobel. While on scene, the officer noticed a significant amount of damage to the passenger side of a 2003 Taurus SE. The officer questioned the driver of the vehicle, Jared J. White, 19, Prairie du Chien. White told the officer he possibly struck a sign or similar fixed object along Highway 60 between Wauzeka and Boscobel in Crawford County which was not reported to law enforcement. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was notified and conducted an investigation.
It was determined that the crash occurred on June 17 at approximately 11:30 p.m. White was eastbound on Highway 60 when he struck a mailbox owned by Howard and Karen Roth, just west of Boydtown Hollow Road, in the township of Wauzeka. White stated a semi crossed the centerline, came partially into his lane of traffic and caused him to drive into the shoulder of the roadway.
White’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and there were no injuries. White was issued citations for hit and run property adjacent to a highway, failure of operator to notify police of an accident and failure to maintain control.
