Ingleside anniversary, cow art will highlight River of Music

The River of Music concert in Guttenberg this Friday, June 30, will include a short celebration of Ingleside Club’s 115 years.
The club was established in 1902, when eight Guttenberg women decided to beautify the riverfront by turning a cow pasture into Ingleside Park.
Uncle Sam’s Band will be playing in the band shell that evening. Bruce Bryant will share an original song titled, The Ingleside Park Rag. Bruce will also lead a sing-along using the words written for Ingleside’s 75th anniversary, with Scott Fisher playing the guitar accompaniment to the tune of When You And I Were Young, Maggie. Ingleside members will circulate through the crowd before and during the concert wearing vintage clothing and sharing historic tidbits.
This year’s Umbrella Arts sculpture theme, "Cows," was chosen to be part of this celebration. All portable cow sculptures are invited to come to the concert. Rabecca Hennessey’s student’s cow portraits will be on display. Cow sculpture contest winners will be announced. Two live dairy cows will also attend.
As a special treat “cow pie” cookies will be offered as a courtesy of Thrivent Financial.
The regular two-hour (6-8 p.m.) concert sponsored by People’s State Bank will be extended to 9 p.m., due to an anonymous donation.
In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to the third floor of Municipal Building — minus the two live cows!
