On or about June 6, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a burglary that occurred at the Xtra Discount Grocery store located on County X in Clayton Township. Entry was made and an undisclosed amount of cash stolen.

In the early morning hours of June 15, the owners and a neighbor awoke to a suspicious vehicle parked outside the store. The sheriff’s department was notified that the owners observed two males exiting the store.

The owners were able to detain one of the two males who was identified as Johnathan O’Dell, 17, Soldiers Grove. O’Dell dropped several stolen items as the other male fled to a vehicle parked on County X. The Crawford County K-9 unit arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. The deputy determined that the second subject was Wyatt Myers, 17, rural Gays Mills. It was discovered in the course of the investigation that O’Dell and Myers were involved in the burglary that occurred June 6 as well. The deputy located another vehicle with two 17-year-old occupants in the immediate area. The two were identified and questioned and both remain under investigation.

The vehicle Myers fled in was located the following day with items used to gain access into buildings, damaged property taken from the store and marijuana. Myers was arrested several days later and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana. He is also being referred to the district attorney’s office for a possible charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

O’Dell was charged with two counts of burglary, theft and criminal damage to property.
