Harvey Lee Fredrick Borcherding, age 78, of Garnavillo, IA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  He was born on November 25, 1938 on the family farm in rural Guttenberg, the son of Delbert and Viola (Kregel) Borcherding. 

Harvey attended the Walke Country School and later attended and graduated from the Guttenberg High School with the class of 1956.  On June 18, 1960, Harvey was united in marriage with Eldoris Noeding at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Garnavillo and the couple was later blessed with three daughters.  Over the years, Harvey worked for numerous creameries and eventually retired from Swiss Valley Farms.  He was a long time member of St. Paul Church in Garnavillo and was also the custodian for 27 years.  In his free time, Harvey enjoyed fishing, wood working and gardening which he was known especially for his gladiolas. 

Harvey will be forever loved and cherished by his wife of 56 years, Eldoris; three daughters, Marilee (Larry) Peters of Marion, JoAnn (Doug) Nelson & Shirley (Curtis) Kraetsch both of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Colin & Riley Peters; three siblings, Darlene (Lyle) Glawe of Garnavillo, Jan (Jim) Solomon & Dennis Borcherding both of Guttenberg and many other relatives and friends. 

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bernell Borcherding.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, IA. The family received friends there from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, and one hour before service at church.  Funeral service was at St. Paul Lutheran Church Garnavillo, IA, at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017, Rev. Gary Hatcher officiating. Interment was at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.   

In lieu of flowers and other types of sympathy, memorials are preferred and can be sent to 104 W Harrison St Garnavillo, IA 52049 in Harvey’s memory.
