The Clayton Ridge School Board met in regular session on Thursday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in the middle school library.  Members in attendance were John Heying, Ellen Johnson, Mike Finnegan and Kathy Ihde. Christine Aulwes, Jason Reimer and Alicia Helle were absent. Also in attendance were Superintendent Shane Wahls, Principal Andy Peterson, Steve Hoff, Dave Schlueter, Mary Seifert, Bob Bodish, Darrin Troester and Mary Ann Troester.

Payment to BLDD in the amount of $38,219.49 was approved for schematic design and design development at the Guttenberg site pending clarification on several cost items.  

Asbestos removal from the middle school water heaters was approved. The work will be carried out by Mark Hogan at a cost of $5,280. Wille Construction will perform the following paving projects: elementary sidewalk - $5,300; bus barn - $6,850 and half of the high school parking lot - $38,635.  

Kendra Wilke was hired as band/vocal instructor pending the approval of her resignation by the Paton-Churdan District. Deb Henkes was approved for hire for the .3 FTE technology coach position. Chelsey Hansen was approved for the full-time cook position at the Guttenberg campus. 

Dustin White was approved for the middle school football position, and Chris Scott was hired as varsity assistant football coach.  

Bob Bodish addressed the board advocating for the district's continued  support and forward movement with the ALICE program.

Open enrollment requests were approved for Jacob and Justin Cook to attend the Central District, Leah Cosley to attend the Western Dubuque District, and Dylan and Lily Kann to attend the Western Dubuque District.  

Board members approved the concurrent enrollment contract with Northeast Iowa Community College for contracted classes for 2017-2018, as well as the Northeast Iowa Health Occupations Consortium Contract.  The board voted unanimously to approve the purchase of seventh grade math curriculum from The Pearson Company for a cost of $3,679.52.  

Student fees and lunch prices were set as follows: K-6 registration - $65; 7-12 registration - $100 (no increase), student athletic pass - $60, adult pass - $75, student punch card - $25 (no increases), and a $.05 increase to all lunch and breakfast prices. 

A first reading was held of the district wellness policy.  A second reading will be held at the July meeting.

Board members voted to allow the superintendent to move forward with collaboration with the Central District on the planning of shared staff development if scheduling so allows.
