Robert Edward Kottke
Robert Edward Kottke, 89, Prairie du Chien, passed away on Tuesday, June 6.
Bob was born April 24, 1928, in Bloomington, to Ed and Clara (Biener) Kottke. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1946, and within a few months enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre of Occupation in Germany until 1948.
Upon his return from Germany, he met Virginia Bartels, and they were married in August, 1949. Bob worked with his dad, Ed Kottke, at the Kottke Gas Station and Auto Dealership until it closed in the 1960s. Bob was employed at John Deere Tractor Works until 1990.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife Virginia, his sister, Betty Cascarano, Sarasota, Fla.; three children, Gloria (David) Uppena, Wake Forest, N.C., Kevin (Deborah) Kottke, Plainfield, Ind., Kim (Belinda) Kottke, Cassville; nine grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren located in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Brazil, South America.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, at Faith Envangelical Free Church, 1110 E. Cass St., Prairie du Chien. Pastor Kevin Kottke will officiate. Everyone is invited for food and fellowship following the service.
