Stella C. Lipke (nee Moris) entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, April 13, 2017. 

 

She was born to George and Rose (Wagner) Moris at home on the family farm in Patch Grove, Wisconsin, on Dec. 22, 1931. 

 

Stella enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, dancing and was an excellent cook and homemaker. After graduating high school, she worked as a nurse at Prairie du Chien’s General Hospital and then as a secretary at the General Telephone Company. Her career then led her to serve as a sales representative for the WPRE radio station where she worked for 25 years until her retirement.

 

As a long-time member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Stella volunteered for many parish functions. She was also involved with events and activities of Campion Jesuit High School. 

 

Stella is survived by her son Doug and his wife Judy, of Hinsdale, Ill., and son Dan and his wife Lu Ann, of Waukesha. She is also survived by four grandchildren: DJ (Abbey) Lipke, of Chicago, Bridget Lipke, of Chicago, Kristin (Peter) Sparding, of Silver Spring, Md., and Andrew Lipke, of Prescott, Ariz.; as well as one adorable great grandson: Hayes Thompson Lipke. Stella is also survived by three brothers: Bill (Mary Lou), Tom (Phyllis) and Don (Teresa); one sister, Mary Jane (Mike) Faas; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

 

Stella was predeceased by her former husband, Donald J. Lipke. She was also predeceased by four brothers: Jerome (Alice), Ronnie (Elaine), Gary (Charlotte) and Cy (Ruth); as well as one sister, Rosetta (Neil) Kuenster. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with interment in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call at the church on Friday, April 21, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Catholic Schools or Crossing Rivers Health Hospice. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
