Vehicle crashes into ditch, arrested for second OWI

A driver was witnessed venturing left of center, on Highway 18 near Military Ridge Road outside of Mt. Hope, which resulted in an arrest for operating while intoxicated, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.

During the early morning hours of Friday, March 24, a deputy traveling west on Highway 18 saw a vehicle travel left of center and into the deputy’s lane of travel at about 12:50 a.m. The vehicle then drove off the road and into the ditch.

Contact was made with the driver, Lyle Clark, 28, of Mt. Hope, who was unaware of what had happened and appeared intoxicated, according to the officer. Field sobriety tests were administered and it was determined that Clark was intoxicated. Clark was arrested for second offense OWI.

The vehicle was removed from the ditch by B&M Towing, of Bloomington.
