Maurice E. Whitman, 88, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Clayton Center, Iowa, entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 20, 2017. Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Graveside Services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Clayton Center Cemetery, Clayton Center, Iowa, conducted by Reverend Bruce Hanson. 

Maurice was born on April 6, 1928, in Mount Vernon, Iowa, son of John and Mabel (Collins) Whitman. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #298 in Marion. Maurice worked in sales and management for Wonder Bread in Cedar Rapids, until he retired in 1989. 

Survivors include his children, Gary (Diane) Whitman of Marion and Gaye (Dennis) Van Hamme of Grinnell, Iowa; grandchildren, Laura (Candace) Whitman, LeAnn (Brian) Struchen and Tammie (Roger) Gregory; two sisters, Beverly Jean (Robert) Pflauhaupt and Linda Kofron both of Marion; two brothers, James (Pam) Whitman and Larry Whitman both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one great-grandson, Kylar; and several nieces and nephews. 

 Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ivadene; sisters, Donna and Betty Whitman; brother, David Whitman; and sister-in-law, Dora Whitman.
