Maxine M. Oswald, 87, of Wauzeka, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 15, at her home. 

 

She was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Wauzeka, the daughter of Jeremiah and Mabel (Geisler) Lathrop. She married Duane Oswald on Feb. 1, 1951. Together they farmed and later owned and operated Ozzie’s Bar in Wauzeka. Duane preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2004. Maxine also worked at Advance Transformer in Boscobel for several years until her retirement. She enjoyed camping and fishing up north as well as spending time with her family. 

 

She is survived by her children, Diane Mullikin, of Eastman, Karen (Brian) Dombeck, Debra Ward, and Cheryl (David) Slaght, all of Wauzeka, David (Sue) Oswald, of La Crosse; a daughter-in-law Page Oswald, of Wauzeka; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; in-laws, Robert (Doris) Oswald, Rita Oswald and Delores Oswald. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Dennis; along with two sons-in-law, David Ward and Larry Mullikin; four sisters and a brother. 

 

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. at Century Hall in Wauzeka, WI with Rev. Lynn Schreck officiating, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services. A private family interment will be later in the Wauzeka Cemetery. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
