The annual La Soirée fundraising gala for the Crossing Rivers Health Foundation will support life-saving, diagnostic equipment that can further ensure quality health care in Prairie du Chien. La Soirée Royale is scheduled for Saturday, April 8, at 5 p.m., at the Dousman House.

The two pieces of equipment in demand are a molecular analyzer for the laboratory department and an ultrasound unit for the emergency department.

Currently, Crossing Rivers’ tests have been sent to an outside lab and results aren’t returned for two to three days.

“With the molecular analyzer on-site, we would have results back within one hour,” said Sasha Dull, chief development officer. “A lot of times, that’s very important to ensure fast, targeted treatment of illnesses, such as Sepsis (blood stream infections), gastrointestinal pathogens such as Salmonella, and bacteria strains of E. coli.”

A new ultrasound unit in the emergency room would assist with needs such as IV and central line placement for fluids or medication administration, anesthesia nerve blocks for pain and sonography exams to evaluate trauma to the abdomen and check for fluid around the lungs.

Dull said upgrading the current, outdated equipment will allow for “much better quality imaging.”

“Just being able to support our patients is vital to the mission of the foundation and the hospital. Lives are saved here and we think that’s so hugely rewarding,” she stated.

Essentially, La Soirée is the foundation’s effort to reach out to the communities it serves and ask for support so it can, in turn, deliver superior health care to the region.

“It’s inspiring to see our communities come together and get behind this,” Dull added. “That gives purpose to our role.”

La Soirée begins at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, followed by a buffet dinner, silent auction and a live auction. A number of items will be up for bid, including jewelry, a handmade quilt, electronics, a luxury vacation, event tickets, memorabilia and more.

Also, the format of the evening is slightly different from years past. Casino-style gaming entertainment will follow the other activities, from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

“We will have blackjack, craps, roulette, a palm reader and possibly a money booth where people can step in and see how much they can grab,” Dull shared. “Winners will receive door prizes.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds from La Soirée will go toward the purchase of the two pieces of equipment.

Limited tickets are on sale now for the semi-formal fundraiser at the concierge desk inside Crossing Rivers’ main entrance or by calling (608) 357-2369.
