Jennifer M. Steiner, 34, of Cottage Grove, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, at UW Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sunday, Feb. 12. Her husband, Kirk U’Ren, did not survive the accident which occurred enroute to a badger basketball game.

Jennifer Mary Steiner was born June 7, 1982, in Prairie du Chien, to Russell and Mary (Oppriecht) Steiner. She was a member of the Prairie du Chien High School Class of 2000. Jenni attended UW-Platteville, graduating in December of 2004 with a degree in accounting. Following her graduation, she began working as an auditor for Virchow Krause/Baker Tilly. At the time of her passing, she was a senior manager. While still in college, Jenni met Kirk U’Ren and instantly found the love of her life. Kirk and Jenni were married on Aug. 26, 2011, and twin sons Kaden Kirk and Grayson Russell joined the family on Nov. 28, 2015.

Jenni was the kind of person we should all aspire to be. She was caring, thoughtful and always put others before herself. She was organized to a fault with lists, schedules and planners for everything. Her competitive nature came out in everything she did, yet she was always compassionate to those in need. A spirited Cubs, Bears and Badgers fan, she truly loved sports. She had a great love for her husband, Kirk, twin boys Kaden and Grayson, her dog Patches and her entire family.

Jenni is survived by her sons, Kaden and Grayson; her parents; her brothers, Chuck (Carmen) and their son Bryce Steiner, and Jason (Valerie) and their sons, Adam, Aaron and Andrew; and her dog Patches. She is also survived by her in-laws, Ron and Geri U’Ren; her brother-in-law, Sean; and her sister-in-law, Tasha (Bruce) Baker and their family Alix (Allan Siekert), Tess and Carson Baker; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien, Rev. James Weighner officiating. Jenni will be buried with her husband, Kirk, in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mineral Point at a later date. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Friday, March 3, at the Holy Family Parish Hall and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday. Kirk and Jenni were avid badger fans, badger attire is welcome at services. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
