Sara Sloan, a raptor educator for Schlitz Audubon Nature Center of Milwaukee, has a great time as she shows off Valkyrie, a 6-year-old female bald eagle, to the enthusiastic crowd during a presentation at Hoffman Hall Saturday morning as part of the Prairie du Chien Bald Eagle Appreciation Days. The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center conducted several raptor presentations. There were numerous other displays and presentations at Hoffman Hall along with various programs Friday night and Saturday at venues including the AmericInn, Country Inn and Suites, and the Prairie du Chien Regional Tourism Center. There were about 85 eagles in the Prairie du Chien area on Saturday, including 65 near Ritter’s Fish Market at the intersection of County N and Highway 27, said Effigy Mounds volunteer Dennis Kirschbaum.
