Louisa Florence Billmeyer, 92, of Guttenberg, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Monday, Feb. 6, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, conducted by Rev. Shane Anderson.

Interment was at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, Elkport.

Florence was born on April 9, 1924, in Turkey River, the daughter of Nelson and Elsie White.

Florence received her education from the rural Hunter School. On March 20, 1946, she was united in marriage with Donald Billmeyer in Guttenberg. Over the years, Florence worked various jobs but always considered making a home and raising her children as her full time job. She was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport until it closed and then she joined St. John’s in Guttenberg. Florence enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her family. 

Florence leaves behind two children, Joyce (Frayne) Horstman of Garnavillo, Jack (Elizabeth) Billmeyer of Postville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1979; granddaughter, Joni Horstman; siblings, Les, Wayne, Everett, Ed and Lawrence White; Vivian Ingles, Helen Bayne, Genevieve Tackman, Iva Bolsinger, Howard and LeRoy Kinyon, Harley White, Naomi Odden, Lucy and Avis White.

In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, memorials are preferred to benefit the Mt. Harmony Cemetery in rural Elkport.
