Shirley A. Powers, 84, of Prairie du Chien, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, at the Crossing Rivers Health Care in Prairie du Chien. 

 

She was born June 29, 1932, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Lauraa (Hamre) May. She married Gordon Powers on Dec. 29, 1951, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Prairie du Chien. Shirley worked at 3M Company in Prairie du Chien for many years until her retirement. Gordon preceded her in death on April 28, 2004, after 52 years of marriage.

 

She is survived by her children, James (Kathy) Powers and Debra Powers, both of Prairie du Chien; her brother Arnie May, of Black River Falls; her sister Janice (Ronald) May-Radloff, of Prairie du Chien; her step sister, Sharon (Larry) Boylen, of Prairie du Chien; her grandchildren, Kenny and Jason Powers, Christian (Mia) Weber and Chastity (Jeff) Kiefer; her great grandchildren Chase and Jaxson along with her dear friend Jim Jones of Prairie du Chien. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister Phyllis May-Radloff.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Gabriel’s Church of the Holy Family Parish, Rev. James Weighner officiating with burial in the Calvary Cemetery both in Prairie du Chien. Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien where there will be a parish scripture at 7:30 p.m.
