Jeffrey Allen Fangmann, 54, of Garnavillo, IA, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017.  He was born on May 7, 1962, in Dubuque, the son of Elmer and Anna Fangmann.

Jeff grew up in the Bankston area where he graduated from Western Dubuque High School. Jeff was working as a mechanic when he and Laurie met in February 1981. They were married on June 23, 1984 at St. Joseph Church in Garnavillo. This marriage blessed Jeff and Laurie with two children, Joseph and Emily.

Jeff always loved his work, whether he was working for someone else or working for himself and building his dream shop on the edge of town in 1994. Jeff enjoyed playing guitar, playing golf where he achieved a hole in one at the Elkader Country Club on hole #5, serving on the fire department for 30 years, pontooning on the river, participating in any church activities and spending time with his family and friends.

Jeff will be forever loved and cherished by his wife; Laurie; two children, Joseph (Aimee) Fangmann & Emily (fiancé Cameron Olson) Fangmann; two granddaughters, Maggie and Madelyn; siblings, Dan (Linda) Fangmann, Dale (Arlene) Fangmann, Deb (Dan) Lansing, Kevin (Deb) Fangmann, Lisa Fangmann and many other relatives and friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements were handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, where the family received friends from 1 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 10. There was also a one-hour visitation before service at church. The funeral service was at St. Joseph Catholic Church Garnavillo, at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017, with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Interment was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo, IA.

In lieu of flowers and all styles of sympathy, memorials are preferred to benefit several organizations that were close to Jeff’s heart.  They may be mailed to P.O. Box 362 Garnavillo IA, 52049.
